The German Canadian Society Harmonie (The German Club)
The German Club was founded in 1955, having originally occupied the space at the old Victorian Club, and moved to its present location at St. John’s St in 1968. The German Club has over 500 private members of whom belong to a number of the club’s cultural/social groups, including German language school, hunting club, choir, and more. Inside you will find a restaurant with traditional German Canadian cuisine and catering services. The club’s space hosts a number of functions, including Spargelfest (four course meal celebrating Asparagus), the German Pavillion for Mosaic Festival, the Regina Folk Fest ‘Afterparty,’ Oktoberfest, and variety of other concerts, dinners, dances, parties, and events.

The Victoria Club was formed out of the need for an organization to assist early German residents of the community; the present site of the club was built in 1925-26. Today, the Victoria Club offers a recreational space for its members who come from all over the country, and from all different kinds of backgrounds. Interestingly, two bowling lanes were built in the basement in December 1930 at which time leagues were formed from club members and continue to thrive today. The Victoria Club also has a hall available to rent for weddings, concerts, and other privately held functions. Membership is open to everyone.
